TuneBase Direct with Hands-free Review

TuneBase Direct with Hands-free

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the TuneBase Direct with the hope that it would make it much easier to take advantage of all my iPhone 3GS offers while on my 70 mile commute to and from work, and I am happy to report that the device has met my expectations. I am using the provided 3.5 mm audio cable to connect the device to the aux-in on my Kenwood head unit in my 2003 Mazda Protege, and the setup works very well. Obviously, it allows me to listen to music without draining the iPhone's battery or locking the screen, which is much more conducive to switching playlists while driving. I also like the fact that I can play, stop, and skip tracks, activate voice control, and answer and hang up calls all with the one button on the device. The built-in mic seems to work well as everyone I have spoken to on the phone via the TuneBase has said they could hear me clearly. Another positive feature is the ability to adjust the device to accomodate various iPod and iPhone models with or without cases; I use the Incase Slider on my iPhone, and it fits perfectly in the TuneBase.
I would have rated the TuneBase with 5 stars if it weren't for two minor drawbacks: 1) the control button is a bit difficult to use for skipping tracks as you must press it twice rapidly to skip forward or thrice rapidly to skip backward, which often leads to simply pausing and playing again; and 2) the TuneBase tends to fall to the side when making sharp turns. Despite these minor flaws, I would still highly recommend the TuneBase.
In the interest of full disclosure, another drawback is that when making or receiving calls on the highway, I must crank my stereo's volume to max in order to hear the person clearly (and must remember to turn it back down before the music resumes!), but it did not affect my rating because it is not the fault of the TuneBase but rather my car for letting too much road noise into the cabin.

BumpShox - Front Car Bumper Protection, Ultimate Front Bumper Guard. Front Bumper Protection License Plate Frame. Tougher Than Steel Review

BumpShox - Front Car Bumper Protection, Ultimate Front Bumper Guard. Front Bumper Protection License Plate Frame. Tougher Than Steel
Average Reviews:

I love the BumpShox. I googled this product and it just came out of no where. I'm surprised I haven't seen anybody else with it. Basically, I have a Ford Explorer and I also have a license plate cover over my personalized plate. Time and time again, NY drivers back into my truck and crack my license plate cover. I replaced about 3 of them so far. Without it, they scratch up my personalized plate. I put this thing on the front plate and all is well so far! It sticks out enough to protect your plates + covers, and enough to deter a person from backing up too close to your car. Yet, it doesn't stick out TOO much to be illegal or gaudy. It's fairly sturdy and firm. [From bumper to bumpshox is: my factory license plate holder, license plate, license plate cover, bumpshox.] I don't think anyone has backed into my SUV since, which is a good thing. That's why I said so far so good and gave it 4 stars. I think they should sell an 'XL' version which sticks out maybe another inch. Then I'll be 100% sure that it works (without actually checking for damage of my plates). I'll update in a few weeks.

BumpShox is a replacement license plate frame that doubles as a car bumper protector.BumpShox was designed to compliment the sculpted lines of your vehicle while offering bumper protection 24 hours a day x 7 days a week - no need to remove the bumper guard. The BumpShox looks like a license plate frame on steroids; it's approximately 2.25" inches thick at the thickest point and noticeably wider and taller than a standard license plate. To attach the BumpShox bumper guard, simply remove the old license plate frame from the vehicle and use the existing bolts to attach BumpShox. Since BumpShox is made of a special V-Tech foam it will not crack like plastic license plate frames nor will it bend out of shape or rust like metal license plate frames.

Sunshades for TOYOTA PRIUS 2010 2011 Heatshield Custom-fit Sunshade Review

Sunshades for TOYOTA PRIUS 2010 2011 Heatshield Custom-fit Sunshade
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have no garage or carport, so my poor car gets exposed to a lot of sun. I bought a sunshield at my local Toyota dealer thinking that they would have selected one that would be a good fit for the car's windscreen. How foolishly deluded I was: the shade didn't cover the whole windscreen, it was difficult to keep in place, it was flimsy and difficult to fold... I only stuck with it for a few weeks before looking for a replacement.
The custom-fit sunshade to the rescue! What a contrast. The shade completely covers the entire windscreen and the two little side windows, so it is much cooler in the car than with the previous sunshield. It is very easy to put in place, and because it is very stiff it stays in place even if you don't fold down the sun visors. When taking it down, it is easy to fold. Because it is so large it is slightly more awkward to install and take down if there is someone sitting in the front passenger seat than if you are alone in the front of the car, but it's not impossible.
I am very pleased I bought this product and would recommend it.

Saris Guardian 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack Review

Saris Guardian 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just came back from a 500 mile trip on which I transported two bikes (a man and a woman's Cannondale hybrid) using this rack without any problems, even when driving through severe thunderstorms with high wind and driving rain.
The rack is well made, easy to install and remove on just about any trunk, has good padding to protect the trunk (no marks were left), and holds the bikes nice and secure with the included rubber straps (though on any bike rack I also always use a few bungee cords of my own). I bought a three bike rack even though I normally transport only two bikes because I like the extra room, and the larger rack was only about another twenty dollars. Therefore, I can't comment on using this for three bikes.
While driving I did not hear any "buzzing" or "vibrating" sound from the rack at all. Also, I secured all of the extra lengths of strap so that they did not flap around.
Before you decide to buy a trunk rack rather than install a hitch, keep some things in mind (I personally prefer a rack that attaches to a hitch, but on the particular car that I was taking on the trip, attaching a hitch was not an option):
1. While a trunk rack generally costs less than the cost of a hitch and a separate rack, once the trunk rack is installed you cannot easily access the contents of your trunk. That means if you go on a trip, you need to pack the trunk before you attach the rack and put on your bikes, and when you arrive at your destination, you need to remove your bikes and the rack to unpack your luggage. At the end of a long trip when I am using a rack with a hitch, I often leave my bikes on the rack until the next day and just deal with my luggage upon arrival. That is not an option with a trunk rack. Likewise, if you want to get something out of your trunk or put something in during a trip while the trunk rack and bikes are on, that is not an option.
2. Depending on the make and model of your car and how the trunk rack sits on the trunk, you have to be careful not to scratch the trunk with the bikes' pedals, and may need to wrap them with socks or some other protection. With a hitch, the bikes are nowhere near the trunk, so that is not an issue.
3. Installing and removing a trunk rack is fairly simple and requires no tools. Removing and installing a hitch rack requires more effort and usually requires a wrench, and sometimes a rubber mallet when the rack gets "stuck" in the hitch.
Bottom line: If you decide to go with a trunk rack, this product works very well.

Open the box, follow the instructions, attach to your trunk, and fasten your bikes and go. It's just that simple with the Guardian 3-bike trunk rack from Saris. It arrives at your door fully assembled so all you really have to do it on put your car. The bumper-mount design makes it easy too, so getting it on and off won't be like thumb wrestling a praying mantis. The pivoting anti-sways and hold-downs adjust to almost any bike size, and the rubber-coated hooks and spring loaded metal buckles integrated with the six ratcheting tie downs securely attach the rack to your trunk, accommodating up to three bikes. The standalone arms and legs can be folded out of the way when not in use.
