The Master Lock Adjustable Height Zero Tilt Ball Mount works as advertised as a versatile mount that allows for a wide range of trailer and hitch mount combinations. HOWEVER... its design leaves a significant portion of the assembly projecting below the centerline of the hitch receiver. This is not a problem with many SUVs, pickup trucks, etc. when the hitch assembly is in or above the rear bumper and the overall ride height of the vehicle is well above the ground. If your hitch is installed below the rear bumper (in my case with a Hidden Hitch unit installed in a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country van) the hitch receiver resides relatively close to the ground -- even with the towing vehicle empty. The use of this Master Lock ball mount will reduce the ground clearance further, even when it is adjusted as high as it will go. I found that the combination of this ball mount with a loaded van and/or significant tongue weight from the trailer will push the rear of the vehicle downward to the point where there are only a few inches of clearance between the large nut at the end of the Master Lock adjustment assembly and the road. The unit will drag the ground when trying to enter even a modestly steep driveway, when passing over a speed bump, or attempting to drive over a rounded curb driveway entrance. In one instance I had to detach the trailer in the street, completely unload all of the cargo in the towing van, and then reconnect the trailer before I could pull the trailer into a driveway with a modest uphill grade. (Even with the van empty the Master Lock assembly dragged the ground and left a long scrape mark on the driveway!)
While generally a good design, the versatility and usefulness of this ball mount can be greatly diminished when used with some passenger automobile or van hitch combinations that result in a low mount that is close to the street. Air shocks or some way of elevating the rear of this type of vehicle might help, but the overall configuration of the towing vehicle and hitch assembly must be taken into account when considering the use of this hitch.
