(More customer reviews)I received my order quickly and in good condition. The in-store packaging was very well-designed. I was impressed with the quality and attention to detail of the equipment. All parts are designed and built to survive exposure to weather and to be very simple to assemble. That is where the good and the simple end. The reason I "down-rated" this item is that the instructions are nearly all in an over-simplified visual format with no useful step-by-step instructions or suggestions/advice The manufacturer assumes you are an experienced installer and have a standard automobile and not a van, SUV or other car with an open interior. Further, you must cut four holes in the bumper (with a special hole saw -saw is included) but the instructions give no advice on how to go about doing that although measurement instructions are included. There was virtually no detail on how to attach the wiring to the car's electrical system. Most important there was no advice for the novice installer such as how to locate the various wiring targets or how to obtain colored sensor parts to match bumper (literature states that many colors are available) or where best to locate or how to mount the main control box if you have no trunk. This all makes it very difficult to install without significant mechanical/electrical experience and/or professional advice. The accompanying literature does wisely state that you should have such experience and that any professional advice should be heeded. Yeah, O.K., So where do you turn for that advice? I sent repeated emails to the company (Steelmate) seeking advice on the topics I have mentioned without even receiving an acknowledgement that I had written to them. Therefore I downgraded my rating to indicate "sketchy instructions" (important for the inexperienced) and extremely poor response (actually, no response) to repeated customer requests for assistance. The cost of having this device professionally installed is very high in my area with estimates as high as $400. With nearly $100 already invested in it, I couldn't justify the cost of installation. As I said, This is a well-built, well-designed device, but with limited instructions and no backup help at all from the company. I reluctantly sent mine back and will simply practice careful driving in the parking lot. However, this is a well-designed and well-made item for the experienced installer.
